Bio – Tammy Hammond

I moved to Tuolumne County after graduating from Columbia Falls High School in Montana at the age of   17.    This is where I began my banking career of 30 years.  I worked for mostly the smaller banks in Sonora  as I preferred their small town customer service and their eagerness to want to help their customers.    I started as a teller at El Capitan National Bank, met my husband of 25 years there on the teller line.  I have 2 beautiful children (Heather 23 years old and Tyler 20 years old).   Over time I worked my way into lending through a few transitions to other smaller banks.  This is where I began to love doing mortgage loans.  In December of 2013, I decided I wanted to get my license and become a mortgage loan officer.   This was a big step for me as I went from a salaried position in banking to a commissioned position as a mortgage lender.   Through many bank mergers in the past this is what lead up to my decision –  I wanted to be in charge of my own destiny and not someone else’s.   In January 2014, I accepted a position as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Academy Mortgage.  It was difficult at first as I had to generate my business through marketing.  Although I had the advantage of knowing a lot of people in the County from Banking, I still needed to get the word out that I wasn’t associated to Banking any longer and this was a bit difficult.   I worked hard and I was persistent in making myself visible to the public and sharing where I was.  Soon many started to follow.   This has been a very challenging time in my life doing what I do, as mortgage lending has so changed so much over the years and there are many more guidelines than ever before.   My passion is helping and educating my clients on homeownership.   I’ve come to realize that everyone has a different scenario and it’s like putting a tiny puzzle together.  Once you have all the key pieces, it’s about finding the right product that best suits your customer and giving them the best customer service that you possibly can.   This job is very rewarding, this is something that is most important in one’s life and it’s about accomplishing the “American Dream”.  What job out there can give such satisfaction than a job that educates and places a customer in their home.      When I’m not working I enjoy camping, golfing, hiking and spending time with those that are special to me “My Family”
